Kitchen Remodeling

Kitchen remodels from a cabinetry refresh to taking down walls and rebuilding the plan around how you use the room.

Willow kitchen renovation, Northville

We turn outdated kitchens into functional, stylish spaces perfect for cooking, entertaining, and gathering. Our kitchen remodeling services include, cabinet installation and refacing, countertop installation (quartz, granite, butcher block, and more), layout redesigns and open concept conversions, tile backsplash, lighting, and flooring.

Cabinet lead times set the schedule for everything after them, so cabinetry is ordered early and the rest of the work is planned backwards from its delivery date.

Opening up the plan

Removing a wall between the kitchen and the living space is the change that makes the biggest difference and the one that needs the most planning. If it is load bearing it needs a beam and posts down to the footing, which affects the ceiling, the floor and sometimes the basement. Better to know that at the estimate than during demolition.

Cabinetry, counters and backsplash

Our team will work with you to install custom or semi-custom cabinetry, quartz and stone counters, and tile. Cabinets have the longest lead time in the project, so they get specified and ordered first and everything else is scheduled around when they arrive.

Lighting and electrical

Older kitchens are almost always under-lit and under-circuited. Recessed cans, fixtures over the island and sink, and enough dedicated circuits for the appliances people actually own now will modernize a dated kitchen. Lighting changes how a kitchen feels more than the counter material does.

Flooring and the rooms next door

Kitchen flooring rarely stops at the kitchen. Running it through to the adjoining rooms is what makes an opened-up plan read as one space rather than two rooms with the wall taken out.

Common questions about kitchen remodeling

How long will we be without a kitchen?

Most projects need to wait for new cabinets, which take 6-8 weeks for delivery. Once cabinets are on-site, a typical project takes 2-4 weeks. We set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house, usually a fridge, microwave and a work surface, and we tell you honestly which weeks will be the worst ones.

Can we take out the wall between the kitchen and the living room?

Usually, but it depends what the wall is holding up and what is running through it. If it is load bearing it needs a beam sized by an engineer and posts carrying down to the foundation. We check before quoting rather than after starting.

What drives the cost of a kitchen remodel?

Cabinetry first, then whether plumbing, gas or electrical move, then counters. Layout changes cost more than finishes do. Keeping the sink and range roughly where they are saves real money if the budget is tight. Our kitchen projects typical start around 30k including cabinets.

Do you install cabinets we buy ourselves?

Yes. We will look at the quote and the specification first, because we would rather flag a problem with a cabinet order before it arrives than work around it afterwards.

When should we order appliances?

Before cabinets are finalized. Cabinet openings are built to the appliance dimensions, so changing the range or the fridge after the cabinet order is placed means either modification or a delay.
